Our careers department is dedicated to supporting students as they plan for life beyond school. The careers room is located by the chapel and is always open for students to access information, ask questions, and explore career pathways they may be interested in.

Year 9
The Real Game—students can visit the careers office and learn about the cost of living and financial responsibilities such as tax, mortgages, budgeting, expenditure, and income. Students are also introduced to CareerQuest, an online tool designed to help them explore future career ideas.

Year 10
SIT Career Taster Day—students are introduced to tertiary study through a visit to the Southern Institute of Technology, where they experience trades and technology courses and other study options available.

Year 11
NCEA Information Evening for parents and students is held in Term 1. One-to-one interviews are conducted with all students to discuss future career pathways. The Year Level Google Classroom is used to provide information about career options and opportunities.
Students complete My Career Match, a programme where they answer questions about themselves and discover career pathways that align with their interests. They also attend Career Fest at ILT Stadium Southland, where they meet with industry representatives and education providers.

Year 12
One-to-one interviews provide students with information and resources about trades, polytechnics, apprenticeships, and university study. Discussions also focus on subject choices and entry requirements for future career pathways.
